Satellite Beach, Florida – The 3rd Annual Set Goals Not Limits Distance Showcase is set to take place on March 17th at Satellite High School in Satellite Beach, Florida. This highly anticipated event brings together some of the top high school distance runners in the state. With three events on the schedule — the 800 meters, the 1600 meters, and the 3200 meters — spectators can expect an action-packed day of competition. Additionally, running legend Jim Ryun, a three-time Olympian, Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, and former U.S. Congressman, will be in attendance, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.

Over the years, the Set Goals Not Limits Distance Showcase has seen some impressive performances. In 2021, former Satellite standout Joe Wester won the boys’ 800 meters with a time of 1:53.42, and former Nease High School star Bradley Anderson Ball set the boys’ 3200-meter record with a time of 9:08.81. The 2022 event witnessed an incredible performance by Rheinhardt Harrison, another Nease High School alumnus, who won the boys’ mile in a blazing 4:06.01.

On the girls’ side, the 2021 event saw Krystal Rodriguez from Coral Reef High School set the 800-meter record with a time of 2:12.91. Haley Thornton of Palm Harbor University High School won the 1600 meters with a time of 5:00.02, and Caroline Wells of Winter Springs High School took the crown in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:10.72.

This year’s event features a strong lineup of competitors. Top entries in the boys’ 3200 meters include Grant Doherty from Ponte Vedra and Liam Jordan from Berkeley Prep HS. The boys’ 800 meters will see Andrew Mahorner from Set Goals Not Limits and Michael Gongora from G. Holmes Braddock HS battling it out. The boys’ mile features top entries like Zack Poekert from Cypress Creek and Kirin Karver from Berkeley Prep HS.

On the girls’ side, the top entries in the 3200 meters include Ashley Fitzgerald and Annabella Cardona from G. Holmes Braddock HS. In the 800 meters, Palm Harbor University High School’s Haley Thornton, the top seed, is expected to lead the pack, with Cheyenne Thomas from the Red Sea Running Club, an impressive 8th grader, closely following. The girls’ mile will showcase top talents like Thornton and Thomas, along with Madison Carr from Astronaut HS and Addison Boyer from South Fork HS.
