Gervais recently competed at the FHSAA 1A District 4 Cross Country Championships at Father Lopez High School in Daytona Beach, Florida. She placed 6th overall, running a PR of 19:55.  Her team was 2nd in districts to 1A powerhouse Circle Christian. The team will move on to compete in the 1A Region 2 Championships on 10/29 at Santa Fe College in Gainesville.

Speaking with her coach, Chris Libscomb, he said that Avery is “Pretty quiet, but has worked her way into a solid number 2 on our team.”  Upon hearing she received this honor Avery said, “God has given me a talent to run, so I want to use that for him and run faster.” Her team is poised to be good for a very long time as 4 of the top 8 runners for The Master’s Academy are middle school runners.

The Master’s Academy is a small Christian school located in Oviedo, Florida that boasts a 90% college acceptance rate.

Nominate Your Athlete fo Athlete of the Week

Do You know where your athlete is running?

With the recent events in the news about runners being harassed and even abducted, it is important that families have a piece of mind when their athlete is out on the road. Garmin has created a watch that will allow you to track your runner, without the need for them to carry a cell phone. The Garmin Fenix 945 LTE is one of our favorite products, and we consider it a must-have for runners everywhere.
