Congratulations to Cheyenne Thomas of the Red Seas Running Club and Tavares Middle School for being selected our 10/2 – 10/8 athlete of the week. Cheyenne was selected by the Run Florida Run community after her record breaking performance at the FSU Invitational. Cheyenne’s time of 10:28.1 was 29 seconds faster than the next best competitor and was a 36 second meet record.
Cheyenne is the defending FLYRA Public School state champion and is part of the defending team champions, Tavares Middle School. She has broken multiple middle school girl’s meet records including a 3k record at the historic Katie Caples Invitational in Jacksonville, and the aforementioned meet record at the FSU Invitational. Cheyenne and her Red Sea Running Club team are currently registered to run at the Hoka FLRunners Invitational this weekend in Lakeland. She will be gunning to beat her own meet record of 11:14 set in 2021.
Congratulations Cheyenne, and good luck with the rest of your season!
Do You know where your athlete is running?
With the recent events in the news about runners being harassed and even abducted, it is important that families have a piece of mind when their athlete is out on the road. Garmin has created a watch that will allow you to track your runner, without the need for them to carry a cell phone. The Garmin Fenix 945 LTE is one of our favorite products, and we consider it a must-have for runners everywhere.
