Happy New Year, runners! We are going completely virtual! We are doing things a bit differently this year, but we are so excited to have you run this race with us! To keep everyone safe during this uncertain time, we will be having an open window of time for you to complete your race. From February 6th to February 28th, 2021, you can run and complete your 5k – anytime and anywhere you would like! Run at home on your treadmill – 16 times around your house (depending on how big your house is) – or if you would like a course already provided for you we have that too! We have four possible routes we can suggest right here locally in our beautiful town!
1. The Original Frozen Foot 5k race course – Start and finish at The Civic Center in Civic Center Park; run through Sports Complex; cross Main St.; behind High Springs Community School; through Bailey Estates neighborhood; through local neighborhoods; across Main St. again; and back to Civic Center park! This route does cross Main St. twice and does have areas where sidewalks are not available – please use your discretion to be as safe as possible and yield to cars and traffic! A detailed map is provided here:
2. High Springs Brewing Company – Catherine Taylor Park route – Start and finish at The High Springs Brewing Company right here in downtown High Springs, FL. Wind through beautiful local neighborhoods with quiet and peaceful streets. End with an ice cold beer! This route does have areas that do not have a sidewalk available, and crosses Main St. twice – Please be careful! Detailed map here:
3. Poe Springs Road Path – Start and finish at The High Springs Brewing Company in downtown High Springs. The route goes through local neighborhoods and trails. This route does go on a path that is not paved, please be careful for uneven ground, potholes, sinkholes, etc. Detailed map here:
4. NW 190th Avenue – Bailey Estates Entrance Straightaway – This route is the simplest and straightest. Park outside the Bailey Estates neighborhood entrance and go straight east to NW 202nd St. and turnaround – it’s that simple! There is a nice hill at the turnaround intersection and there are no sidewalks, so please be sure to stay in the grass and be careful of cars going by on the road.
Please make sure you receive the following items in your swag bag when you pick them up: Race t-shirt; race medal; and most importantly – a coupon for $1 off any pint of beer at The High Springs Brewing Company!
Once you complete your race anytime between February 6th and February 28th, please submit your results to Damon Messina (email@example.com) as soon as possible. This will get you entered for our random drawing of great prizes. These prizes include: massage gift cards; running store gift cards; etc.! If your name is selected to win one of these great prizes, you will receive an email/call letting you know your prize can be picked up.
To submit your race results to Damon, you can track your route and time with a free app downloaded on your phone called Strava. Once complete, take a screenshot of your results and email to Damon. You can also use any number of other similar apps or smart watches. Please let us know if you have any questions about this process – we would be happy to help!
Please also consider completing your post-race feedback form to help us better your experience next year. This can be done by manually completing the form that was in your swag bag, and mailing to Damon Messina at 23718 W U.S. Hwy 27, High Springs, FL 32643. Or you can email your responses to the question to Damon at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you so much for your interest and support – you are what makes our town great! We hope you have a fantastic virtual race and hopefully we will see you again in person next year!
