Due to COVID-19, many larger Marathons have been canceled over the past year. This void has left runners scrambling to find safe race opportunities. The Florida Track Club is excited to host the FTC Marathon to provide a safe, competitive (Boston Qualifier), and fun local half and full marathon. This lightning-fast course and well-supported event is sure to produce some fast times and good fun!

PRE-REGISTRATION is REQUIRED – There will be no registration on the day of the event, you must pre-register online ONLY by March, 2nd at 11:59.

Volunteers are NEEDED for this race, please go to the “Volunteer” tab on the menu bar at the top of this page and sign up. This event is being operated at cost and is 100% volunteer-led so please help us make this event successful for our local runners!

The FTC Marathon will start at the Hawthorne Trail Head of the Gainesville/Hawthorne State Trail. The course follows the flat and fast paved bike bath out for 3.27 miles and then turns around and comes back. Each loop will be 1/4 of a Marathon making it easy for family and friends to view the race. The tree canopy on both sides of the trail will provide both shade and low wind conditions for optimal running!

Please DO NOT park at the Trail Head, Parking will be at Hawthorne Middle/High School: 21403 SE 69th Ave, Hawthorne, FL 32640. It is only a short walk from there to the start.

Half-Marathon Distance:

Not up for running the full Marathon? Sign up for the Half Marathon distance while spots last! Only 40 spots for the Half so sign up today!
Half Marathon runners will start at the same time and run with the Marathon runners. They will complete two loops of the USATF Cert. Course for 13.1 miles
Fully Automatic Timing with Runner Tracking Provided by Endurance Sports Timing
Half Marathon runners will receive a finisher medal and tech-tee
Runners will start in waves, keeping with social distancing guidelines, but individual timing starts as each runner crosses the start line.
Marathon Distance:

Flat and Fast USATF (Boston Qualifier) Course on the Gainesville/Hawthorne Trail: Course Certification is Pending Approval
Fully Automatic Timing with Runner Tracking Provided by Endurance Sports Timing
Marathon runners will receive a finisher medal and tech-tee
4-loop out and back course that is spectator friendly and only has 7 turns for the full 26.2 miles!
5-hour course cut off limit for water stops, traffic guards, and the official timed result (runners may still finish at their own risk)
Runners will start in waves, keeping with social distancing guidelines, but individual timing starts as each runner crosses the start line.
Cost:

Marathon: $95 until 2/5, $110 from 2/6 to 2/19 and $125 2/20 until 3/2 when registration closes.
Marathon Distance: $25 discount code will be emailed to all active FTC members reducing the above cost
Half Marathon: $60 until 2/5, $70 from 2/6 to 2/19, and $85 from 2/20 until 3/2 when registration closes.
Half Marathon Distance: $10 discount code will be emailed to all active FTC members reducing the above cost

Hydration and Fueling:

On-course hydration approx. every 1.5 miles in the form of water and Gatorade. Cups will be pre-filled and ready for pick-up, but runners will have to grab them from tables
Honey Stinger Gels will be available for runners at aid stations in limited quantities so please carry your own fuel and only use gels provided as needed late in the race
Swag, Awards, and Goodies:

Custom FTC Finisher Medal to all finishers! (image coming soon)
Tech-Tee for all registrants (Size guaranteed if you register by Feb. 20th)
Overall and master winners along with age group awards will be available for pick up after the race in 10-year categories for first place in each division
In lieu of post-race refreshments, we will have pre-prepared grab bags filled with post-race goodies for finishers
Safety, Registration, and Packet-Pickup:

120 participant cap ( 80 Marathon and 40 Half Marathon)
Face coverings will be required for all Volunteers and Runners. Runners may remove their face covering after the start but must wear them pre-race and in the start corral.

There will be no Packet Pick-Up at the race. Packet Pick-Up will be available on Thursday, March, 4th and Friday, March, 5th at Lloyd Clarke Sports.
