8th grade sensation, Marcelo Mantecon, continued to add to his legend with a win at the 2022 Hoka FLRunners.com Invitational. Running this weekend for Miami Elite, Mantecon broke the meet and venue record with a time of 9:30.32. His victory was 19 seconds faster than second place finisher Skylar Manatt and 13 seconds faster than the previous course record held by Reinhardt Harrison. Manatt of the Wesley Chapel New Tampa Mustangs also went under the meet record with his 9:49.09.

In the team race, it was Belen Jesuit that took home the top honors. Despite having Mantecon wearing his club colors, the Wolverines still managed to win with a team score of 26 points. The boys from Belen put their top 5 runners in the top 14 places. Armando Cruz (10:10.87), Davi Bodoh (10:15.34), Nicholas Veloso ( 10:22.25), and Octavio Blandon (10:24.58) went 3-6 in one of the most competitive races in the state of Florida.  Alex Lammens (10:35.78) placed 8th, Collin Moore (10:39.34) placed 9th, and Jacob Rogers (10:57.84) placed 15th to help their Ocala Distance Project team place second overall with 83 points. 3rd and 4th were separated by only 3 points with Indian Trails Middle School edging out Red Sea Running Club 111 pts to 114 pts.
