Runners from across the state had some big races last week, with many of them running their conference championships and then competing in the Hoka FLRunners.com Invitational later in the week. Help us decide who has earned their spot as this weeks athlete of the week.<\/p>\n
Wearing his Miami Elite colors, Mantecon crushed the meet and course record at the 2022 Hoka FLRunners.com Invitational with a time of 9:30 for 3k. The previous course record at Halloway Park was 9:43 set by Reinhardt Harrison in 2017.<\/p>\n
7th grader, Avery Gervais, of the Master’s Academy went 19:56 for 5k at the RUNMATANZAS XC Invitational. Gervais’ time ranks her number 3 among 7th graders this year.<\/p>\n
In his second race of the season, Thomas ran a 10:51 to win the South Florida Middle School Conference Championships. He and his teammate, Juan Bracamontes, went 1 – 2 in the nearly 100 person conference race.<\/p>\n
This 8th\u00a0 grader from the Carrolton School of the Sacred Heart was the girl’s champion at the South Florida Middle School Conference Championships. Her time of 11:53 was 10 seconds faster than second place and her win helped her squad secure the team title as well.<\/p>\n
Alex was the winner of the MCIAC Middle School Cross Country Championships. He ran 11:51 to lead his Osceola Boys team to a conference title. He came back 3 days later to place in the top 10 at the 2022 Hoka FLRunners.com invitational with a time of 10:35.<\/p>\n
Lyla was the winner of the MCIAC Middle School Cross Country Championships. She ran 12:43 to lead her Osceola Girl’s team to a conference title. She returned 3 days later to run 12:22 and place top 20 in the Hoka FLRunners.com Invitational.<\/p>\n
