St. Cloud XC Invitational, Run Through the Race Simulator: The Host Wins Its Own Meet by 72, and the Boys' Winner Changes With the Toggle

St. Cloud XC Invitational, hosted by St. Cloud High School. 2000 Bulldog Ln., St. Cloud. Saturday, September 5, 2026. Varsity boys 7:00 a.m., varsity girls 7:25, combined JV 8:00. Eight runners per team in the varsity races.

Twenty-nine boys' programs and thirty girls' are entered. We took every one of them, dropped them into our Race Simulator, and scored both varsity races the way Saturday will score them. Every runner is entered on the best thing he or she has run in 2026, leveled to a common course. Top seven per team, five score, sixth and seventh displace.

The short version. St. Cloud 4A wins its own meet by 72 points and it is not close at any point on the page: four Bulldogs in the first fourteen, five inside 1:33. The girls' race is the opposite, five teams inside 46 points, and the order changes depending on which clock you use. So does the boys' individual title: on raw times Luis Rivera wins it, and on course-leveled times Gabriel Harris wins it by seventeen seconds. That is the whole argument for the graded toggle in one race.

About the times. Every mark below is the time the runner actually ran, and where. The last column is what that time is worth at Cecil Field, the reference course, and that is the number the scoring uses. A team needs five runners with a 2026 mark to score; the teams that do not have five are listed after each race. The simulator does not project, so nobody is entered on last November.

Boys: St. Cloud by 72, and the toggle changes the winner

St. Cloud 4A scores 44, placing 2-7-10-11-14. Luis Rivera (Sr.) is second in the field, then Koda Harkema (Jr.) seventh, Brody Ansbaugh (Sr.) tenth, Carson Devlin (Sr.) eleventh and Marcos Quinones (Jr.) fourteenth, with Stanley Juste (Sr.) 25th as the sixth man. Five men in 1:33, a 16:55.3 average, and the sixth man ahead of every other team's fourth. This is the ninth-ranked team in our 4A list racing a field with nobody else from that list in it.

Gateway (Kissimmee) 4A is second at 116 on Langston Carry (Jr.) fifth, Nicholas Gordils (Jr.) 16th, Jacob Zamor (Sr.) 21st, and then freshman Luca Ramirez and senior Jean Jessurum at 32nd and 42nd. Their whole scoring five, all seven in fact, comes from one afternoon at the Kowboy Invitational, which is the cleanest thing about their number: one race, one course, no mixing.

Circle Christian 1A is third at 150, and it is the one team here whose score needs no course arithmetic at all. Every Circle runner in the race is entered on Cecil Field, the reference course, so their graded times and their raw times are the same numbers. Matteo Kirwan (So.), fifth on our 1A list, is fourth in the field at 16:34.0, Aschalew Parker (Sr.) twelfth and Joanh Lehman-Saba seventeenth. Then a 1:33 gap to their fourth man, which is why a 1A school with three of the top seventeen still sits 34 points behind Gateway.

West Orange 4A (183) and Mount Dora 3A (186) split fourth and fifth by three points, and neither ran this meet a year ago. Venkata Anantha (Jr.) is ninth for West Orange, Gavin Douglas (Sr.) sixth for Mount Dora. Lakeland Christian 1A, who won this meet outright last September, is sixth at 209 with the tightest five in the race, 1:10.9 apart, and nobody inside the top twenty.

Now the part to be careful with. Score the same race on best times and the top five do not move: St. Cloud 46, Gateway 106, Circle Christian 124, West Orange 168, Mount Dora 183. What moves is Cocoa Beach, from eighth to thirteenth, and Lakeland Christian, from sixth to ninth. Cocoa Beach ran its own Tuesday-night meet in week two on a course the simulator rates about 53 seconds slow, and Lakeland Christian ran the Lake Region course, rated about 38 slow. Both readings look sound, both are built on a fraction of the runners behind the Cecil Field number, and both are doing real work in those placings.

The individual race is the cleanest demonstration of the toggle we have had all season. Gabriel Harris (Lake Wales, Sr., 3A) ran 16:21.1 for third at the Jim Ryun Invitational, on a course the simulator rates roughly 43 seconds slow, which is worth 15:38.5 level. Luis Rivera (St. Cloud, Sr., 4A) won the Kowboy Invitational in 16:04.6, on a course rated about ten seconds slow, worth 15:55.1. Raw, Rivera is faster by sixteen seconds. Leveled, Harris is faster by seventeen. They finished 22 seconds apart in the same race at Jim Ryun on August 22, which is the only evidence that needs no arithmetic at all, and Saturday supplies the rematch.

Antario Berek (Vero Beach, Jr., 4A) is third either way. Asher Cerveny (Cocoa Beach, Sr., 2A) is the biggest single beneficiary of a course rating in the field: his 17:54.9 at his own Tuesday-night meet grades to 17:01.7 and eighth. Take the rating away and he is sixteenth.

Not scoreable: Titusville 2A has four runners with a 2026 mark and Liberty 2A has two, so neither posts a score.

Girls: five teams in 46 points, and second place is a course rating

Timber Creek 4A wins it on either setting, 91 graded and 86 raw, and they do it without a runner in the top eight. Liliana Napolitano (Sr.) is ninth, Alessandra Cecilio (Fr.) twelfth, Kaitlyn Aliotti (Sr.) fourteenth and Kourtney Zofkie (Fr.) eighteenth, four girls inside 46 seconds, then Alison Stack (So.) 44th. All of it comes from the Ocoee Kickstart Classic in week one, a course that rates within a few seconds of neutral, so there is very little arithmetic in their number either.

Then four teams inside eighteen points. Cocoa Beach 2A 119, Lake Nona 4A 123, Lake Highland Prep 2A 127, All Saints' 1A 137, with Lakeland Christian 1A 22 further back at 159. Every one of them is built differently.

Lake Nona has the best runner in the meet and the biggest hole. Arabella Duffell (Jr.), No. 1 in 4A and No. 2 in Florida, wins the race by 69 seconds on her 17:53.0 from Cecil Field. Amyiah Hall (So.) is sixth. Their third scorer is 33rd and their fifth is 44th, a 5:44 spread, and that is the whole reason a team with the top individual finishes third rather than first.

All Saints' is the youngest scoring team in the field and possibly in the state: Charlotte Roy (8th grade), fourth in the field and No. 4 on our 1A list, Kylie Cook (8th grade) eighth, Lindsey Cook (Jr.) 23rd, and a seventh grader, Savannah Simonds, 41st. Two eighth graders and a seventh grader in their scoring five, and they are fifth in a 19-team race. Lake Highland Prep is close behind on three girls between 13th and 17th, one of whom, Scarlet Botic, is also in seventh grade.

Lakeland Christian leads the field on the front end, Emma Wilkinson (Jr.) second in 19:02.0, and loses it in the middle: 16th, 29th, 56th, 75th behind her.

Now the honest part. Cocoa Beach's second place is the placing that depends most on a course rating. All seven of their runners are entered on their own Tuesday-night home meet, and here is the thing about that rating: only seven girls who raced it also have a state time to measure against, which is below the threshold we require, so the simulator does not use a girls' number at all. It takes the boys' figure from the same night, about 53 seconds, and scales it up by 21 percent to 64. That is our standard fallback and it is applied everywhere, but it is an inference, not a measurement. Score the race on best times instead and Cocoa Beach drops from second to sixth, behind Lake Nona, Lake Highland Prep, All Saints' and Lakeland Christian. The rating may well be right. It is doing a lot of work, and it is built on very little, so we are saying so before Saturday rather than after. Esther Dobbin (8th grade), third in the field graded and seventh raw, is the same story one runner at a time.

One more line worth having: Gateway 4A and Mount Dora 3A tie on 240, and the tiebreak goes to Gateway on the sixth runner, 95th against 111th.

Not scoreable: New Dimensions 1A, Osceola (Kissimmee) 4A and Tohopekaliga 4A have four runners each with a 2026 mark; Haines City 4A and Vero Beach 4A have three; Cornerstone Charter 2A, Space Coast 2A and Titusville 2A have two. Vero Beach is the one that stings, because they were fifth on this course last September and return all five of the girls who did it. Three of them have raced in 2026, so the simulator cannot score them.

What the simulator cannot see

• Nova Lakes is entered in both races and is not in our database at all. The school opened for classes on August 10 and has not appeared in a result we hold.
• Lipan is entered in both races and we cannot identify it. There is no Florida school by that name in the FHSAA classification files or in any result on file, and this meet welcomes out-of-state teams, so it may not be a Florida program at all.
• Cypress Creek, entered on the girls' side, is the Orlando school, and the only Cypress Creek in our database is the one in Wesley Chapel. The Orlando team has no 2026 result with us, so we left it out rather than score the wrong school.
• The simulator scores what has been run. A team that has not raced, or that has raced four girls, does not get a projection.
• Six schools in this field carry no classification in the database. Their classes above were filled in by hand from the FHSAA 2026-27 files. Life Christian and Pineapple Cove (West Melbourne) are not in those files at all.

Notes on the ratings

• A course rating is the gap between what runners ran at that meet and what the same runners ran at last year's state final, re-anchored so that Cecil Field, the biggest sample of the season, sits at zero. Boys use the mean of that gap and need at least five paired runners; girls use the median and need at least fifteen, and where a girls' sample falls short the boys' figure is scaled up by 21 percent instead. Every meet behind this field is rated, so nothing here is scored on an unpriced raw time.
• The ratings doing the most work in these two races: Jim Ryun about 43 seconds slow for boys, Cocoa Beach about 53 slow for boys and 64 for girls, Lake Region about 38 slow for boys, Whispering Pines about 20 seconds fast for girls, Kowboy about 10 fast for girls. Three of the girls' figures in this field are scaled from the boys rather than measured: Cocoa Beach, Trinity Prep, and the Ocoee Kickstart Classic, where Timber Creek's entire team raced. Ocoee's is about four seconds either way, so it changes nothing; Cocoa Beach's is 64 and changes second place.
• The simulator recomputes its own ratings from the snapshot, so it can differ from the numbers carried in our weekly rankings posts by a few seconds. Jim Ryun for boys is the visible case: +42.6 here, +38.2 in the rankings. It moves times, not places.
• These are Cecil Field equivalents, not predictions of Saturday's clock. The St. Cloud course itself runs about half a minute slow for boys, so expect the actual times to come back slower than the last column of these tables.
• Grades and classifications are 2026-27. Middle schoolers running varsity for private schools are eligible and are scored as entered.
